Sacred Fish

Description

Picture taken somewhere outside Mahajanga, Madagasacar, in December 2011. Cristal clear water on which everything reflects, and a few sacred fish...

I can't remember where this place is or what it is called, I honestly don't know if I ever knew precisely - only that it is outside the city. What I do know is that it is a sacred place, and everything that is there is sacred. There is a big tree under which sacrifices where made, and a large but shallow pond with water as clear as cristal - a spring actually, the water is springing out of the ground and you can see small twirls here and there inside the water.

It is believed that the fish and eels that live there are sacred and can make wishes come true if you feed them with meat. I was told that because of this, they are used to eat meat only and became ferociously carnivorous, better not get too close to the water...

There is also sacred lemurs that you can feed too - I think it brings you luck? not sure about what I remember - and also a big group of crocodiles (they were 12 back then) living in a small area, only separated from you by a not-so-solid grilling. Hey, little story time: the man guiding us (who's used to it) made one of the crocodiles come closer, a big one, and it nearly ate my mother's hand ahah... Nearly, guess I wouldn't be laughing if it actually got it Sweatdrop...    (wasn't what "feeding" exactly meant...)

Anyway I like this picture and I hope you like it too, and the story along with it!

Feel free to tell me what you think of it in the comments, I'd be curious to know Aww Revamp-Kinda

EDIT: The name is Kely Manja Rôh, found it! I also googled it and found another name: the Sacred Lake of Mangatsa, which seems to be more popular. Go google it to get a glimpse!
